ADHD Assessment and Evaluation
What To Expect:
If you suspect you or your child has ADHD our clinicians will walk you through a complete a comprehensive evaluation. The complete evaluation is separated into three session to provide adequate time for comprehensive screenings and computerized testing. These sessions are provided in person at this time.
Initial Assessment:
In the initial assessment you will meet with you one of our clinicians in office. The clinician will complete an intake biopsychosocial assessment and discuss the screening tools to be used. There are different screening and assessment tools used dependent on your age.
If you are wanting an assessment for your child the intake biopsychosocial will be completed with both parents and the child in the room.
After the biopsychosocial intake the clinician will complete on of the specialized screening tools for ADHD.
Second Session:
In the second session you’ll complete a computerized ADHD test. The complete test takes 30 to 40 minutes. After the computerized test, an additional assessment and diagnosis too will be conducted by the clinician.
If you are a parent, you are able to stay in the room during the practice test. However, we try to eliminate all distractions and ask that the parents stay in the lobby while their child is completing the test.
We want an accurate result. Please refrain from taking medications that make you or your child drowsy. If they are on medications for ADHD, please do not give them their medication the day of the test as the medication will skew the results.
Results Session:
In the third session the clinician will discuss the results of each assessment and discuss a personalized treatment plan that is best fit for you based on your results. You are encouraged to ask questions during the session. You will be given a copy of the results to keep. We are here to help you on your journey!
