When Life Is Overwhelming

Have you ever been going through life and realized that where you are today is not where you want to be?  Life can catch us off guard.  Sudden epiphanies that you aren’t satisfied.  Have you had something happen, something said that immediately jolts your world?  You have those uneasy dull vibrations in your chest that you know is not right.  That is where A Healing Path Counseling comes in.  We can help identify depression or anxiety that comes from stressors of life.  Those moments or realizations require a partner to move through these times with you.

Coping and Adjustment

Coping and adjustment stressors are exactly what you envision.  Our work is to focus on assisting as you travel through one of the many shifts in your life.  These life transitions are a continual state of change and the ability to sort through the details and reach that place of acceptance is difficult.  These situations create stress, anxiety, and worry for how the change will affect the outcome of your life.  The qualified counselors at A Healing Path Counseling will partner with you to get through your turmoil.  This partnership can help you by having the support you need to make your way in this journey.

Major Life Changes

So, let’s get deep for a second.  Socrates said, “The secret to change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new”.  As we have journeyed in this lifetime, we know that change is inevitable.  All change comes with some resistance from us, as we are creatures of habit and status quo.  This is when we look up and realize that we have a resistance to shifting to “building the new”.  That is where counseling could make a huge impact for you.  Life changes can be positive or negative from adoption, getting married or divorced, to name a few.  Positive changes happen when a child grows up and moves out of the house or gets married. Some negative examples could be ending a relationship, losing a job, or moving.  No matter whether you like the new direction or feel sadness and disappointment, change is inevitable and can produce feelings of anxiety, depression, and anger.  Change can leave you uncomfortable and we are here to help you navigate those emotions.

F.A.Q.

Each private pay session is $140.00 per psychotherapy session or sliding scale at the clinician discretion.

All clinicians in the group take United Healthcare, BCBS, Cigna, Aetna, and Humana

Dayna and Traci each take Traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage Plans

For those private pay clients.  We do offer to assist you with out-of-network reimbursement through your current insurance.

That choice is totally up to your discretion.  Reasons for paying privately may include:

  • Clients recognize that insurance may require a diagnosis and they want medical records to remain confidential.
  • Paying “out of pocket” provides you with control of your mental health information.
  • Often managed care dictates the number of sessions that they will cover and so patients will shift to private pay after those sessions have been met.
  • Finally, in making these decisions, many clients have found their mental health services are reimbursed through your Out of Network Benefits, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), or your Health Savings Account (FSA).  While these require a receipt of services for reimbursement, our billing department can assist you.

We accept all major credit card through our customer portal.

Few rules will break any confidentiality between the client and therapist.  Below are the exceptions:

  • When the client poses an imminent danger to themselves or others, and breaking confidentiality is necessary to resolve the danger.
  • When the therapist suspects child, elder, or dependent adult abuse.
  • When the client has directed the therapist to share information about their case.
  • When the therapist receives a qualifying court order.

Most clinicians offer in-person sessions at the office in Sugar Land, TX.  All clinicians offer the option for telehealth therapy via secure online portal.

The best perspective I could make is that therapy works as much as you are willing to work it.  Your outcomes will be dependent upon your participation and readiness for change.  Your therapist is truly your partner in taking the steps to change and happier times.  Maintaining open and honest dialogue is important to the process.
