What is in a name
Ahhh, charting our way through life. Seems so simple when you think about it, but then we run into those rough and rocky roads. Maybe you are one of those people whose life rarely encounters difficulties. Maybe you are someone that has hurts coming at you all the time. Sometimes we are faced with huge mountains to climb or just a bump in the road. Either way, we are all on this path of life trying to get toward happiness, contentment and peace. This is the reason why the practice is called A Healing Path Counseling, not The Healing Path, but A Healing Path. We are all trying to chart our way. Your neighbor may move in a different direction than you, but our job as counselors is to help find the right path for you.
A vs The
To say that there is only one path toward happiness means that we lose our individuality. We are not robots moving toward a pre-prescribed area, but individuals with different life experiences, different ideas of happiness, different inner wisdom that leads us to strength, and different personal beliefs based on all the above. Our path is unique, and often when we try to force ourselves down someone else’s path, we feel that our life is out of balance. Talk therapy can help guide you toward your personal values and views of the world that leads to the ultimate goal of finding yourself.
Which choice of path?
Paths you choose in life are based on decisions that you make constantly. We all want to believe in purpose and connection, but many times we are unclear on how to get to that destination. The interesting part of life is that we have choices. Choices to take the hard road of healing past hurts and finding new ways to cope and grow, or choices to continue to remain in the status quo. The choice to heal is scary and daunting. “If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice”. Change comes from the decision to choose the uncomfortable, but so does finding yourself. You and only you are able to make that decision.
The right path is clear?
Rarely is the path to change the easy path. It is usually the path with branches covering the way and the path less worn. It often looks so dark at the beginning of the journey; however, the light begins to grow brighter as you bravely move through the fear. It does not mean that you won’t have to keep choosing to stay on that path, but the inner wisdom you possess will help you continue growing toward contentment, happiness, and peace. Your life’s purpose is on that path, if you just take that step.
